Sea Kayaking allows you to relax while exploring lakes, rivers, or tidal areas. Or use a versatile touring kayak for a vehicle to an aerobic workout. Individuals and groups will share the waterways and greenways with eagles, osprey, blue herons, beavers, mallards, and other wildlife. It easily adapts to photography, bird watching, and outdoor education or recreation. This mini expedition could be the start of a wonderful pastime.  We hope that you or a group you are associated with will join us for some fun!  Hotel and camping accommodations are available if you are coming to Richmond from out of town.

One Day Beginner Class - Learn the basics of sea kayaking (kayak touring). The course will cover equipment, strokes, turns, launching and landing, and other maneuvers. While learning these new skills, you will enjoy a scenic paddle among the osprey and Cyprus trees on the Chickahominy Lake. Two Day Beginner Course - Relax while exploring one of the many lakes or rivers in the area. You will share the waterways and greenways with eagles, ospreys, blue herons, beavers, mallards, and other wildlife. This mini-expedition could be the start of a wonderful pastime. This course covers boating safety, equipment, boat re-entry with and without a paddle float, launching and landing, strokes and wet exits (getting out of the boat when it is upside down, even though these boats are inherently stable). Additionally, you will experience a different scenic paddle the second day.  Adventure Challenge's head instructors are A.C.A. Certified and all instructional classes maintain at least a 5:1 student to instructor ratio. This is our standard to offer an outstanding event. Cost: $130, includes use of all necessary equipment. Moon Light Paddle - We will paddle out late in the day as the wildlife and fish come alive and return under the serenity of moon light. Often we see eagles and osprey during this enjoyable paddle. This mini expedition is great for photography, bird watching, and outdoor education or recreation. Prerequisite: Beginner Sea Kayak Class. Cost: $40, includes use of all necessary equipment. Scenic Paddle to a Restaurant - We will paddle a scenic waterway while riding the tide to a seafood restaurant. This is a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon spent on the water. Prerequisite: Beginner Sea Kayak Class. Cost: $40, includes use of all necessary equipment. Meals range from $6 - $15 and is not included in the registration fee. Mockhorn Island - Paddle to the Mockhorn Island Wildlife Management Area on the Eastern Shore. This all day event allows you to use your Sea Kayak skills to explore the shores and inlets while watching and photographing the wildlife. Prerequisite: Beginner Sea Kayak Class. Cost: TBA, dates to be announced.

Rolling Clinics - Kayak Rolling Clinics are a great way to get a jump on your beginner course or build confidence in your existing roll by strengthening it. Usually we focus on the "C To C" roll because this is the easiest to learn and offers the paddler the most benefit. Cost: $35, includes use of all necessary equipment.
